| Grad Prestranek, equestrian and holiday centre |
Prestranek estate dominates the breath-taking country combining the features of two southern regions - Primorska and Notranjska, overlooking lush pastures and dark Karst woods.
Prestranek was first the property of the aristocratic Eding family until the year 1710 when the Austrian emporer, Charles VI, bought the estate to get more grazing land for Lipizzaner colts from the near-by stud. The estate quickly gained a status of a Royal Stud, complementing facilities of another Royal Stud - Lipica. Thus horse-breeding got under the skin of local people, as for almost 300 years looking after noble, high-stung pure-breds has been an inseparable part of their lives, interrupted only by wars.
